the Change I Wish to See

...and whatever else it takes to find my pants

12.12.2008

i won't follow

she's standing there
with a smile so bright
her fingers stretched
and her palms so wide
and i've wanted her
to see me
but not like this
believe me

and it's not my pride
but i can't reach out
i just can't let go
i just can't back down
and i know that she'll just leave me
she won't need a better reason

and it's as easy as starting all over again
turning back time to a brand new when
so close
so close

she could be my great escape
but she'll just have to wait
'cause i won't follow
i'll find my own way
back home

i'm not a traveling man
who's heart's on the road
not better off scared
even if all alone
but i can't quite fight the feeling
that i can't break through this ceiling

and if it's not with her
then it's not with her
and i can't push on
'cause to pull might hurt
'cause i can't just do what's easy
no i need a better reason

and it's as easy as starting all over again
turning back time to a brand new when
so close
so close

she could be my great escape
but she'll just have to wait
'cause i won't follow
i'll find my own way
back home
