the Change I Wish to See

...and whatever else it takes to find my pants

S[H]e Says

he says:
“together
we can be more
than we are apart,
til forever
i wanna be with you
i'll play my part,
now or never
it will never be now
again,
god i miss you
all i need
is another chance

i've gotta be with you
this back and forth we do
this tangled web
is all i've got
to hold onto,
i promise
i believe,
i love
i guarantee,
i mean it
wait and see,
i won't ever again”

she says:
“yeah, whatever
should've said that
at the start,
you want forever
now that yours
is the broken heart?
now or never
passed
i won't be your next mistake,
god i'll miss you
but i need
to be free

i can't be with you
this back and forth we do
this tangled web
where we step forward
then back two,
you promised
i believed,
i loved
you guaranteed,
i mean it
wait and see,
i won't ever again”

he begins,
“but what if we-”
she cuts in,
“there's no we”
he says,
“if you and me
got married maybe
you would see..”
he drops down to his knee
and for a second she..
then she remembers
how he always makes a final plea,
and she says

“i can't be with you
this back and forth we do
this tangled web
where we step forward
then back two,
you promised
i believed,
i loved
you guaranteed,
i mean it
wait and see,
i won't ever again”

Hey there, is the song available for these lyrics? I've always found I can't get a feel for lyrics without the actual music itself. Music brings the lyrics to life, changing idle words into paintings and tapestries of emotion.

And yes, I'm exactly pretentious enough to describe it as such.

it isn't just yet. i'm actually working on the instrumental. i'm hoping to have it up by the new year.

but i agree. the lyrics are up as lyrics, but as a song you need a more complete picture.

True enough. How long have you been songwriting for? I've NEVER been able to write lyrics before the instruments! But that's probably because I'm one of the traditional egotistical lead guitarist types.

a few years? hard to say. started as spoken word, then short stories, then poems..

but you're right. this was a weird exception. usually i need the sound before i can get to the words
